  • Wall Street Bailout

I would love to see the companies fail because they took bad risks. But the reality of the situation is that a lot of people’s pension funds are tied into the stock market. If the market goes south, so does the pension funds. Our seniors have worked hard for their retirement. Lets help them keep it.

Having said that, we need to also fix the problem, which is the lack of financial regulation. The rules that were removed in the late 1990’s were put in place after the Great 1930’s Depression. Somebody thought we didn’t need them anymore. Somebody was wrong. Greed is a part of human nature. Everybody who bought a house during the recent land boom is part of the problem. Nobody was thinking of the long term effects, only what they could get in the short term.

The bill is due. Pay it. But make sure it won’t come due again. Write your elected representatives (Senate and House) in Washington and demand a restoration of the regulations that were removed in the 1990’s. Email them on everything you want. Review their voting records. Call them out on wrongs they do. GET INVOLVED. Work towards a more responsible government, regardless of party affiliation. Show the bozo’s in Washington that we are not sheeple, but an angry mob who is going to lynch their political careers unless they do the job we hired them to do.

Embrace your humanity, let go of the greed, and arm yourself with knowledge.

And arm yourself in the physical sense also. I mean a weapon. Because not everyone is going to embrace humanity, and you have to protect yourself.

  • More Obama Lies

Here is a summary from FACTCHECK.ORG on Obama’s acceptance speech.  As you can see, it is rather telling of his distortions.  More lies and half truths.   At the end of the summary, I have included a link to the analysis of the distortions.

    ———

We checked the accuracy of Obama’s speech accepting the Democratic nomination, and noted the following:

    • Obama said he could “pay for every dime” of his spending and tax cut proposals “by closing corporate loopholes and tax havens.” That’s wrong – his proposed tax increases on upper-income individuals are key components of paying for his program, as well. And his plan, like McCain’s, would leave the U.S. facing big budget deficits, according to independent experts.
    • He twisted McCain’s words about Afghanistan, saying, “When John McCain said we could just ‘muddle through’ in Afghanistan, I argued for more resources.” Actually, McCain said in 2003 we “may” muddle through, and he recently also called for more troops there.

    • He said McCain would fail to lower taxes for 100 million Americans while his own plan would cut taxes for 95 percent of “working” families. But an independent analysis puts the number who would see no benefit from McCain’s plan at 66 million and finds that Obama’s plan would benefit 81 percent of all households when retirees and those without children are figured in.
    • Obama asked why McCain would “define middle-class as someone making under five million dollars a year”? Actually, McCain meant that comment as a joke, getting a laugh and following up by saying, “But seriously …”
    • Obama noted that McCain’s health care plan would “tax people’s benefits” but didn’t say that it also would provide up to a $5,000 tax credit for families.

    • He said McCain, far from being a maverick who’s “broken with his party,” has voted to support Bush policies 90 percent of the time. True enough, but by the same measure Obama has voted with fellow Democrats in the Senate 97 percent of the time.

    • Obama said “average family income” went down $2,000 under Bush, which isn’t correct. An aide said he was really talking only about “working” families and not retired couples. And – math teachers, please note – he meant median (or midpoint) and not really the mean or average. Median family income actually has inched up slightly under Bush.

  • The draw of the Cult of Obama

Barrack Obama is an inspiring speaker.  He can talk with expressed conviction and visible earnest on many of the subjects that his audience wants to hear.

That’s right.  What his audience wants to hear.  There is a certain mindset for the Obama follower.  One that wants to think that this single man, this “new” politician, can make all the changes that the nation needs, and make everything okay.  It is a mindset that looks for someone to give them promise and hope for a better future, and all they have to do is to cast their vote for him.

Some of Obama’s followers are simply looking for an increase in handouts for them.  Those are the easy one’s to figure out.  They don’t have a job, are not married but have children with multiple partners, have a history of violence and drug use. These are the parasites of society. But these are not the people I’m going to talk about.

I’m talking about the professional people that fall under Obama’s spell.  The people with jobs, but feel disenfranchised by the Republican party.  They don’t want to open their eyes to the realities of the world, they want to believe in the possibilities of the world.  They want to believe in simple solutions to complex problems, and that larger government is how we can fix the ills of this nation.  Obama followers disdain math when discussing Obama’s economic plans, saying that the rich people and corporations have more than enough money to pay for all the things that they want to feel good about.  Obama followers don’t see this as taking away any incentive to make more money, but rather as a redistribution of wealth, to those that didn’t have the stones to make it in the first place.  They don’t see that once people see more of their money going to the government, these same people will take steps to stop the flow, either by not making as much, or moving it out of country, cutting off revenue, and increasing our trade deficit, and out budget deficit.  Most of the economic professionals have stated that Obama’s economic plan will plunge this country into a depression that it may not recover from.

Every Obama supporter I have ever met has been a socialist. And when I ask them for a viable socialist country to serve as an example for socialism, they say that the right folks have not been in charge yet.  Every socialist see’s themselves at the top of the socialistic ladder, not in line with everyone else waiting for bread.

Obama followers are non-thinking guilt ridden souls who don’t want to know that the world has demons, and refuse to consider that if you open your arms to everyone, you are eventually going to get mugged.  They want to believe in the fellowship of man. Obama gives them the hope that they so desperately crave.  Hope from the realities of the world. It’s a powerful drug, one that has been used by politicians for as long as there has been politics.  It’s a dog and pony show, bait and switch, smoke and mirrors.  It’s business as usual.  It’s Jimmy Carter all over again.  The difference being that Jimmy Carter believed in his platform.

  • Obama gets a free pass, again

On Friday, July 11, 2008, Bernie Mac used less than good taste to introduce Barack Obama to a crowd of about 600 at a fundraiser in Chicago.  Bernie Mac, known for his low brow humor, used disparaging remarks about black women, making reference to the trouble with having the first black First Lady, and in another joke, making reference to “ho’s”.

    After Barack took the stand, he offered this up for consumption;

“We can’t afford to be divided by religion, or by region or class. Or by gender,” Obama said and joked, “That means, by the way, Bernie you got to clean up your act. This is a family affair. I’m just messing with you!”

Seems like he doesn’t have the guts to say what he means.  Again.  Shades of Rev Wright.  It’s like deja vu, all over again.

No, Mr. Obama left the heavy lifting to his camp followers, who issued a statement later decrying Bernie Mac choice of humor.

I would have been willing to let this whole thing pass, except for one thing.  It has disappeared from the main-stream media.  I googled it, and when I clicked on the CNN link, it provided me with a pithy “Not Found”.  I looked on MSNBC, didn’t see it anywhere.  Nor on any of the other media websites.  Seems like the liberal media has decided, “Yeah, we will report it.  For five minutes.  Then lets shovel the whole thing under the rug.  What is the latest dirt on McCain?”

Obama is the media darling who can do no wrong.  His mistakes are duly reported, and then replaced with yet another story on how McCain is just Bush revisited (which is as far from truth as you can get, but thats another column).  The media will continue to Free Ride Obama until he is elected, at which point it will become more profitable to decry him, and make us think they were against him the whole time.

This is called journalism.  I call it bullshit.

  • We need cheap electric cars, now

While watching a commercial for a semi luxury vehicle, I was amazed at the gadgets and gizmos that are now offered on even the most mundane of vehicles.  Shaking my head, I could not but laugh at the heights that our car culture has taken us.  In a time when vehicle sales have plummeted to a low not seen in more than a dozen years, we are still offered cars with hard drives, auto wipers/parking/headlamps/driver position/gps/nosewipe/etc.

We don’t need all that crap.  We don’t need to have a vehicle talk to us.  We don’t need to have a machine make choices.  We don’t need to sit back and relax while we operate a two ton piece of heavy equipment.

We need to hang up and drive.  We need to be alert and watch out for the other guy.  We need to jettison all the additional stuff that the car makers have been adding to the bill so more people can afford to buy cars.

While I do not see the death of the internal combustion engine anytime soon, we do need alternatives.  Cheap ones.

Give us a two seat electric vehicle with a 100 mile range, top speed of 50 mph, air conditioning/heat, radio/cd player for under $8000 dollars.   Yes, it can be done.  A cheap commuter car.  Everybody’s second car.  One you can loan to the daughter or son to go to the library.  A car that will provide you transportation with a modicum of comfort.  Nothing fancy, nothing space age.  No tilting body, not three wheels, not a upgraded golf cart.

    A viable electric car.

    You will sell millions.
